November 28th marks the annual Thanksgiving Day and also the day when the COVNA charity team sets sail once again. This is our third journey to the mountainous areas of Guangxi.
The Yalong Township Teaching Point in Dahua County, Guangxi Province currently has 86 students enrolled. Due to its location in a cold, impoverished mountainous region, the area faces challenges such as underdeveloped transportation and economy, as well as a severe lack of educational resources. Many children are unable to receive a quality education. To fundamentally change poverty, education must be developed—after all, as the saying goes, a strong youth leads to a strong nation.
As a reputable and responsible national brand in the valve industry, COVNA has always been dedicated to giving back to society while developing its business. We are passionate about participating in charity and public welfare initiatives. Although we may not be able to completely eradicate poverty or change destinies, our goal is to do our best to provide teachers and students with a better learning environment. This is the original intention behind COVNA's donation to establish a charity school. Following the donation events in 2016 and 2018, in November 2019, COVNA once again visited the Yalong Township Teaching Point in Hechi City, Guangxi Province, to hold the "Love Sets Sail Again, Kindness Illuminates Hope" COVNA Hope Primary School charity donation event.
To help children in impoverished mountainous areas get through the winter, COVNA Group initiated the event with the participation of several socially responsible companies. These compassionate businesses contributed funds and supplies in various ways, significantly strengthening our relief efforts and making the charitable activities more impactful. We purchased televisions, school uniforms, backpacks, and stationery, which undoubtedly became the best gifts for the children in the mountains. These donations also reflect our care and support for the development of education at COVNA Hope Primary School.
On the early morning of November 29th, to prepare a surprise for the children, the COVNA charity team set off before dawn. After enduring a long and winding journey through the mountainous roads, we finally arrived at COVNA Hope Primary School.
The school principal first expressed sincere gratitude for the donation and encouraged the students to cherish their learning opportunities, study hard, and cultivate a heart full of gratitude. He urged them to remember those who helped them and to give back to their hometown and society with outstanding achievements.
Next, the Young Pioneers presented red scarves to the members of the COVNA charity team as a gesture of respect and appreciation.
To show gratitude to COVNA and the businesses participating in this donation event, the principal personally awarded a plaque of appreciation and took a group photo.
Following this, Mr. Hong, representing all the participating charitable enterprises, donated a large batch of teaching materials, including televisions, and personally handed out stationery, backpacks, and school uniforms to each student.
After the donation ceremony, the charity team interacted with the children through games. Their innocent faces lit up with smiles. The students eagerly wrote down their dreams on the "Dream Scroll." Together, we formed a "Circle of Unity" and sang "You Look So Beautiful When You Smile" and "Grateful Heart." The moment was heartwarming and unforgettable.
In the afternoon, members of the COVNA charity team ventured deeper into the mountains to visit impoverished families. We witnessed their extremely modest living conditions—no refrigerators, televisions, gas, or heating. In the bone-chilling winter, entire families huddled under a small blanket for warmth.
During the visits, Mr. Hong personally spoke with the students' parents and relatives, gaining a detailed understanding of each family's living conditions, economic situations, and sources of income. He also provided financial assistance to these impoverished families.
Mr. Hong encouraged the students to develop a spirit of self-reliance and perseverance, urging them to face life's difficulties bravely, study hard, and maintain a positive outlook. He expressed hope that they would one day give back to society and repay their parents. One of the assisted students said, "I will study hard, listen to my mother and teachers, take care of myself, and one day, I will go to university!"
Empower yourself, help others.
Charity is never the responsibility of just one person or group—it requires collective effort and mutual support. We hope this donation event will inspire more people to join in and mobilize broader social forces to support and improve education. We also call on people from all walks of life to pay more attention to children from impoverished families and help them complete their studies and grow up healthy. To the students who received assistance, we hope you will build confidence, overcome temporary difficulties, cherish your youth, and study hard to repay society with outstanding achievements.
COVNA, moving forward with love! Let’s meet again at the 2020 charity event!
